Steering Column Rubbing- 1992 SEL600

I have a 1992 SEL600, and the steering column seems to "rub" every time the steering wheel is turned.
Is there something that can be done to fix this?
I'm thinking the steering wheel needs to come out and then see what is going on inside the steering column......
Just how hard is IT to remove an S-class W140 sterring wheel??

Thanks,
