ATF for '85 300 Turbodiesel

Could someone please tell me which automatic transmission fluid is correct for an '85 300 Turbodiesel.

I hear Dexron II. Others say Dexron III. Can They be mixed?

I live in South Florida- always hot.

The MB dealership told me the Dexron III type for mine.
