W124 Multi-function Relay

Re: Multi-function relay that controls: blinker; hazard warnings; heated rear window; and wiper [part no. P2020-32725]
Car: ’95 E420—W124
I conducted a search of the forum, leading to my conclusion that the above-described relay was the cause of the following situation.
Both blinkers will only work intermittently—sometimes they work as expected, other times it will blink with several long pauses in between blinks, and then other times it will not blink at all.
Based upon advice reviewed during my search, when experiencing blinker malfunctions, my first step has always been to flicker the hazard switch several times. This will sometimes work, resulting in normal operation of the blinkers, but invariably the problem returns.
Thus, I conclude that this relay is not properly operating and is on its way to complete failure. Do you concur?
Next, where is this relay located? Is removal and replacement a difficult job for a beginner DIY’er?
One knowledgeable source concludes that the hazard switch may be the cause of the problems. Do you agree?
Thanks in advance for any input offered.

WJM:
Thanks for asking. I did resolve this--by simply removing the multi-function relay and then reinserting the same relay (not a new one). It must have been a little loose or something. I count this as my 1st DIY'er success.

Great. Get yourself some electronic contact cleaner for future use. I think Home Depot and probably Radio Shack carries it.

Where oh Where is this Multi-Function Relay

Great details on the fix of this issue; however, still no mention of where the relay is. Is it under the hood? Or under the dash?

its in the underhood fuse box, at the rear side of the box, you will have to remove the main fuse lid, then undo the screws that hold the rear section cover which actually is the relay tray.
