double check

86 500/420 SE front cover off , got new timing chain ,rails upper and lower, new tensoiner on,
I have TDC compression stroke on number 1 cylinder on crank and both cams on marks. It will cycle to TDC on other cylinders as well on there compression stroke...
Do I put rotor on TDC mark when I drop it in ? crank in a bit of advance and bolt it back together or am I missing something?I need this double check from tech as sure don't want to do any damage to such a beautifull engine from something I overlooked ........
Thanks........ William Rogers.....

Roll it around to TDC #1 on compression (all marks lined up) and stab the distributer. Set up the rotor so the contact is a little before the TDC tick mark on the distributor body (turns clockwise) to allow for the gear mesh. It rotor should end up just about dead on the mark. I found that centering the rotor on the mark, then tightening the distributor sets you up right, the EZL and crank sensor will keep everything in check.

Everything should be good especially if you rolled it over several time to ensure there is no piston/valve contact on any cylinder.
