w210 window regulator instructions

My rear driver's side window has dropped down. Seems to me like the window regulator is bust. I took off the door panel (using the diy know how I acquired from you guys) but there is like a pink cover over it. Can anyone give me the instructions on how to fix it. I have a 97 e320. How much is the part, and what parts/tools do I need.

W210 Rear Windoe replacement

Once you have the Rear door panel off you have to peel off the Plastic liner to have access to the window regulator you must drill out the rivets that Secure the Window regulator to the door, Then remove the plastic clip at the Window regulator/door glass then slide the glass/window regulator off and remove the regulator ..Install is the reverse...and install new rivets(Note You Will Need a H.D. pop Rivet gun)And Its about a 30min job...Good Luck

i have the same problem with my rear window

I m having a hard time removing the panel. was it difficult to get the door panel off on your car? from this board they mentioned that there should be three big screws to be removed. i have only found two big one and one small one. (one below the arm rest, one behine the black shaped plastic and the small one is from the U shaped plastic near the door latch) Where is the third big screw? thank you in advance for your help.

There is a screw behind the srs plastic plug, another under the arm rest, another behind the plastic cover for the inside door handle release,The lock pin,and pop it off( The Door Panel) with a plastic wedge...

There is no SRS emblem on the rear door panel

my car does not have the SRS emblem on the rear door panel..i see that emblem on the front door though. my car is a 96 E320.

Sounds like You have them all, Pop The Bottom edge of the door panel out/off and push the door panel up to release the arm rest/handle its secured to the door / Slides into the door...This should do it...

rivet gun question

sorry for being naive but is there a special rivet gun or any would do? and H.D. means home depot right?

mark cummins 09-09-2002 05:40 PM

The Rivets Require a BIG Pop Rivet Gun!Heavy Duty..Not Home depot..You must have the Correct rivet gun!
The one that Comes as a Set Wont work...The Rivets are Big!

UPDATE

$350 to fix. Mech could only buy the regulator w/ motor. Does the E420 have the same probelms with regulators. I am considering dumping the 320 and buying a v8 w210
