Omega Oil in Rear Diff 300SE

As I changed all fluids today (transmission, power steering and diff oil), I was recommended this particular oil. It was said that this oil is used in planes and is the best there is.

So I gave it a try and I felt (perhaps pyschological) that the rear end ran quieter ...

My question is whether anyone of us here has actually used this oil, and for what significant finding was there?

Hi Kerry, I'm gonna change my rear axle oil (is that what is usually called diff oil?) this Sat and I'm wondering if there's any other related parts I should replace as well? I mean, with engine oil changes, you replace the filter, and with the diff oil, what else is there to replace?

Thanks!

Nothing to replace other than the fluid. Its very straight forward. No filters, no parts. Just a screw out, and fluid in.

I was recommended using Omega oil and so far find it to be quite good. I had a little noise coming from the axle, but since then, the noise has disappeared. This oil is quite expensive but worth the while.

Thanks for the info.

I cant get hold of any rear axle oil, so I guess I'll have to let my mech use his instead, dunno what brand it is.

What kinda sound are you getting from the axle before the lube?

It sounds like a drooonn as you move along - somewhat like real hard tyres on the road. Its not very noticeable except that one'd think its probably the tyre noise.

Since using the oil, the noise kinda "disappeared".
