meltdown
My 1975 350SLC (8 cyl.) was running down the highway like silk the other day. After stopping for a traffic light, I rounded the corner, the car stuttered once, then quit. No amount of cranking (new battery) with or without starting fluid would elicit any response whatever. After having it towed home (the shame!!), I have found that it has a very weak spark at the plug and a weak spark at the coil (1\16" max.). Can a coil or a condenser just go instantaneously yet still show weak signs of life? What else should I look for? Regards, Ron

I have no experience with that engine. HOwever, the answer to your question is yes. I would try replacing coil and condenser and go from there.

Thanks for the tip, Kerry. I took an old coil out of my junkpile and substituted it into the Benz and it started right up.
