98 E320 Trans not shifting after water spill

I've got a 1998 E320 Wagon with 65K on it that never had any transmission issues. My one year old spilled a small glass of water on the center console and now the transmission is in default (limp home mode). Does MB put the PRNODL sensor/switch in the console rather than the transmission? Is this switch not water/spill proof? If this is the problem how hard is it to replace?

Yes that is where the switch lives & NO the switch isnt moisture proof. The complete shifter must be removed & disassembled to replace the switch. WE do that job every day at shop.
