What Blower Motor Fuse??

Car: 1989 260E

My blower motor stopped blowing. I went to check the fuses. The guide under the fuse box lid says that the blower motor fuse is located outside of the main fuse box.

I looked  and looked  and looked  but found nothing.

Any clues?

The fuse "box" for the BLOWER is mounted on the left shock tower. About 2" long black plastic with 2 wires.

Hmm, I looked and looked some more. I saw nothing like that mounted, but did see a plastic thingy with white numbers and lettering on it *2481"??) which was connected to a cable with a brown wire, and a black wire with a yellow stripe. Is that it?

I also saw another cable looped onto itself and electrical-taped over what looks like a vacuum hose connector. I have no idea what it is.

Should be a small black plastic thing around the top of the left shock tower about the size of a pink pencil eraser (the rectangular ones), the cap flips up from the side. Underneath will be a metal strip fuse.

I had to replace mine recently. I didn't look like what I imagined it would. I has a fairly heavy wires going and out of it.

Anthony & Haas,

Thanks. I think I may have found it but will check again tomorrow when I have more time. It looks thin, black, and indeed shaped like a rectangular pencil eraser -- on the end of fairly heavy wires.

Thanks much!

I looked and what i saw does not look like any fuse I have seen.

There were actually two devices that fit your desciptions. Both consist of 2-pronged male plugs that plug into female. Neither resembles a fuse.

Is it physically attached to the shock tower? Neither of these were.

Yes, attached to the shock tower. If you still can't find it I will take a picture later today and post it.

That would be great, since I am not finding it.

location of blower fuse

I just checked my blower strip fuse. It's just in front of the large fuse box (headlight side), the unit is screwed into the shock tower. It has two cables running into it, one in the front and one in the back. The cover flips up from the long side.

Hope this description helps. If the fuse is okay look at my post regarding testing of blower.

Robby,

Thanks. I still have not found it and wonder if it, like a number of other things, has been removed/altered by the car's previous owner.

haasman 10-05-2002 10:02 PM

Here is a picture: it is between the shock tower and the switch for the alarm (bottom of picture)

OK ... and now the picture

The black box with the thick cables?

No wonder I can't find it: I do not have one at all.
It was apparently removed by the previous owner for reasons unknown.

What I have is the heavy cable looped and taped onto itself. I am about to go do a little surgery to remove the tape and see what's underneath.

>>The black box with the thick cables?<<

Yes, that is the one.
