dash lights stay on-all the time W124 ???
Need some assistance. My wife's 300TE 4 matic (W124.290/103.985) wagon's dash warning lights will not go out after starting the car. All warning lights stay lit, center triangle warning and all other functions. Never seen this before. Search mode on this problem brought up no prior tech posts. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Charlie 1993 300TE 4 matic |

I've read this is often a sign of a bad voltage regulator brushes, though I have no first hand experience with this particular failure mode.
Some number of lights did remain on when my alternator died. Check to see if your alternator is charging. Try a search on voltage regulator.

Check your alternator/brushes/charging system. Last time I experienced that (91 300E) xmas tree was about 1 miles before the car died as a result of the brushes. If I recall correctly, there is a circuit that uses the continuity through the brushes, and if those open you get no warning?.....those in the know please help here. Hope it helps.

dash lights stay on-all the time W124 ???
Thanks for all the help. The car died out on a local drive yesterday. Looks like the alternator quit. Hopefully this will be a warning sign to others when it's about to quit.
