I need advice. "Stinky", my '82 300SD has developed an AC problem. Topping off the freon brought about partial cooling and a lot of noise from the compressor ( sounded like a rod knock ). The noise disappeared when the AC was shut down.
What would you consider to be the best approach to repair short of the MBZ dealership and a home mortgage. |

Go to a good Mercedes independent who can get the compressor much cheaper than the dealer. The compressor is the Delco brand and should be new, not rebuilt.
