Can auto central locking be reprogramed?

The car in question is a 98 W210 wagon.

The feature that locks all doors when the car travels above 10mph has stopped working. The car will central lock using the Smartkey and using the dash switch.

I seem to recall (but could not find using search) a post that talked about a proceedure to reprogram the locking function of the Smartkey.

I would like to try this as a possible cure.

Thanks in advance.

gabbypig,

I do not think I can help you with reprogramming the smart key feature, but I would love to know how you disabled the automatic door locking feature when the car moves. Jim

Thumbs up

Yes, this is a programmable feature! You can do it by yourself, if you've got the owner's manual. The instructions on how to set the locking features are all in there.

Good luck!

David C Klasse,

Thanks for the tip. You are correct, it is right there in the manual, and I have been cursing that feature for a year now. Pays to really read the manual I guess. Thanks again, Jim
