190E-16 steering box same as regular 190E box?

I'm getting a mixed message between parts place and mechanic: Is the power steering box on my "85 190E 16valve the same as the steering box on the regular 190E? Parts place says it's the same; that all 190E chassis come with the same power steering box. Mechanic says the 16valve has a different box. Thanks a lot for any help. Randy

The 16V box is DIFFERENT! about 1/2 turn quicker. The regular box will fit!

sportline box

The sportline box is even more responsive than the 16vlv if you can get your hands on one

steering box

All of them will fit any 190. For me the 2.6 steering box is too mushy, especially on the freeway, but if you don't care about steering responsiveness deffinately go the cheaper way
