Unhappy Largest box in relay box fried? (W124)

Recently, my passenger-side rear side-marker light would cut in and out and is now not working at all. I believe this was due to a frayed/semi-severed wire leading to that bulb right below the fuse/relay box. I have since fixed that problem (which worked for a while), but now the light no longer works. Could the shorting in the wire have caused a chip or component in the "light control box" (largest box within the relay box) to fail? I need to figure this out ASAP, I am getting sick of the bulb failure light always being on at night. -- Mike
