Transmission swap made easy?
1. What makes a transmission unique to the car that is going into, the modulator (red, white, green, blue or black)?
2. There are about 20 variations of the 722.3XX, 12 variations of the 722.4XX and 3 variations of the 722.5XX (last two numbers designates what car it goes with). 3. Lets say I got a 722.409 from a 260E and I want to put this in a 190E 2.3 which calls for a 722.408 can I take out the red then put in the green and I’m on my way, or is there anything else? Thai GI sends…

The internal valving(valve body) & modulator are coordinated for the weight of the car VS the torque output of the engine. THAT is why there are so many different possibilities. Even 200lbs of weight or 10ft.lbs. of torque can make a difference in performance, fuel mileage & EMISSIONS!!
