Any easy way to wire around the warning buzzer relay?
My warning buzzer relay in my 420SEL is bad. It doesnt operate the dome light from the drivers door anymore.
Everything else works in the door, and the buzzer works with the key or the lights, although I think not the seat belts. All I am concerned with is getting the dome light to operate with the door. Personally the buzzer serves no purpose (other than an annoyance) therfore I dont see the need to replace it. What I was thinking was this. Since the passenger side is hardwired to the switch, if you were to take the two wires at the passenger side switch, and extend them to the driver side pin switch (while taping off the factory wires) wouldnt the car just assume the passenger side was open whenever either door was open, and illuminate the dome light? If I am correct the pin switch on the passenger side just completes a ground. If this is the case, either switch should be equally capable of completing the ground, and turning on the light. There should be no difference or ill effects if both doors are open, the ground will simply be still completed. Once both doors are closed the ground will be broken, and the dome light should turn off, as it does with the passenger side. Does this sound viable, or am I missing anything important here? Thanks in advance, George
