Ouick answer needed re;MB factory introduction manuals

Responces appreciated from whomever owns or knows about these books.

I would like the following questions answered please;

1)Do they contain training and theory/functional information to
teach you how systems/subsystems work?.

2)If yes to above, what systems/subsystems are covered and
how much in detail are they covered?.

3)These manuals are not just basic descriptions of the vehicle like
car review magazines provide are they?

4)Are they in color?

5)What other type of information is contained in them?

6)Do you need older manuals to use newer ones? For example;
will systems that appeared in older manuals be explained again
if it happens to be in the newer manual or will the old manual be
reffered back to ie;TO SAVE DUPLICATION OF CONTENTS!

7)Is the test clearly written and easy to understand or is it written
in a similar manner as the factory service/repair manuals?

8)Are these manuals the same exact ones dealers use or are
they specifically designed for the aftermarket?

PS;These are questions that refer to all intro manuals, so please
mention any specifics that may apply!

Thank you!

I would say that the introduction to service manuals are a preliminary service manual for technicians. Some of the best descriptions of operation occur there.

Unfortunately to get good coverage one must have all the manuals of a model up to the year in question and sometimes others. This is because the system is explained well the year it comes out but probably never again. Thus CIS is best discussed in the 1976 manual. The 1992 model years 140 manual is probably the best stuff around on 140 short of WIS. but if one had a 1998, one would want various years to get whichever year the engine system for a 98 came out. The 1996 had a whole book on the 722.6 auto trans.
