1996 C220 Random Multiple Cylinder Misfiring?
My 1996 C220 failed emissions testing based on the following results:
1) misfiring on cylinder 1 2) random multiple cylinder misfiring 3) "check engine light" and "command" module not working The previous owner must have disabled the "check engine" light because it is not lit. Can someone please give me a diagnosis on what could possibly be wrong? I appreciate your feedback. Thanks. |

THE 1996 C220 IS EQUIPPED WITH A OBD 2 SYSTEM. THE CEL
COMES ON OR FLASHES FOR EMISSIONS RELATED FAULTS ONLY. THE CEL POWER SOURCE SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR AN OPEN. A DIAGNOSIS OF STORED FAULT CODES AND PARAMETERS SHOULD BE PERFORMED WITH A SCANNER BY A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN. AFTER THAT THE ROOT CAUSE(S) OF THE MISFIRES SHOULD BECOME EVIDENT. |

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping to avoid bringing the car to the dealer or a technician for diagnosis but if its the only way to diagnose the problem, then I will. Regards.
