Replacing belts on M117

The belts on my 85 500SEL are beginning to whine. Some are in worse condition than others. I plan to replace them all the low-tech DIY way by making marks on the adjustable brackets, replacing two at a time, and using the old thumb pressure gauge to get good tension.

Does anybody want to chime in about do's and/or don'ts for what should be a simple job.

As always - thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

Michael

No need to mark the brackets. Replace them all at once and just tighten them up with appropriate deflection. Don't over tighten the belts, it puts undue strain on bearings and pumps.
