I have a 1999 A160, it has run only 3,600 kms since it was new in jan99. However, just yesterday the "ASSYST" feature notified me that I need servicing within the next 12 days!!! How come??? my car is new and it has a super low mileage on it since I only use it 3-4 times weekly. Could it be the O.E.M. Mobil1 which has the problem? The car seems to run perfectly....

Secondly, I had an MB Computer/Tester run on it when the mileage was 2,500kms and there were no errors.

Lastly, my car is a German version, however I am using the car here in the Philippines with temperatures averaging 30-35 degrees celsius daily.

The flexible service system can operate on time(adjustable) as well as mileage. If the car was built 1 year ago then the time function will overide mileage. Your local dealer can adjust the "time" or mileage between services w/laptop or HHT.

Dear benzdoc,

r u trying to say that even if my car has a low mileage, if its more than a yr, the assyst system will already overun the mileage factor? What do u mean by HHT--is that the MB Module w/c looks like a gameboy???

BTW, is it safe to drive my car even if the warning is on? The MB Module still has to come from my country's capital, and I happen to live in the province where an MB Technician only visits quarterly.

So basically, is my oil still ok?
I topped it off with 1/2 liter of mobil 1 today. Should I change my oil n filter when the MB technician comes?

Yes, time is just as important factor as mileage when it comes to oil changes. HHT is short for hand held tester, which is the way that dealers diagnose problems. it won't hurt to drive the car until the oil is changed.
