’86 300E rear bearing housing removal?

I decided I could probably handle a rear wheel bearing R/R on my ’86 300E. WRONG

I did a search and all I could find was take it to a shop to have it done.

I have the hub off the car but can’t seam to get the dust shield off for better access to the bolts holding the bearing housing.

Anybody have any idea how this is removed?

Anybody ever done this and can shed some light on the subject.

The only book I have for he car is the MB E class owners bible, and it says it’s a easy DIY, and to look in the shop manual.

TIA

At this point, you have to take out the side shaft bolts and remove it. Then you take out the snap ring or bolt that holds in the hub. You now need a specail puller and press to get out the old bearing race and install the new bearing.

I saw a pro do this 3 times (ruining 3 bearings) before he sucked it up and asked for help.
