I have had the adapter seal replaced 3 times in 56,000 in my 1999 E300. So whats the deal with this. I am getting a little tired of seeing this car in the shop.
I have changed dealers and hopefully will see a change, but is this is on the forum I'm sure its out there bieng a pain to everyone.
Could one of the techs on the forum address this. What is Mercedes doing about the frequency of this problem.

Or is it just me!!!!

We have replaced plug connector on every 722.6 transmission comimg in for service so far we have not seen anyone come back with leaking plug connector again....maybe something to do with temperature???

MB recommends modifying the conductor plate to eliminate this particular leak. The valve body must be removed and partially dis-assembled. A small bit of plastic is removed at the area of one of the solenoids on the conductor plate. Your dealer has probably already done this though. I've also found that when re-installing the valve body, it helps to make sure it's as far rearward as it will go. This allows the coupler with the O-rings to fit a bit tighter against the sealing surface. The valve body wiil only move back and forth about 2mm, but before the modified seals were available, and before MB came out with the conductor plate modification, this fixed all but the most stubborn leaks. You shouldn't replace the seals. The plastic warps & causes the leak. Replace the plastic adaptor when there is a leak. The conductor mod was ONLY for 1996 & some 1997 cars. IF you have a leak there after replacing the adaptor then the conductor plate is warped & needs replaced as well.
