i own a 1986 190E with 57000 miles on it, and the miles counter stopped turning over and recording the miles driven. i was inquiring to know what could have happened, and if the repair is fairly easy for a do-it-yourself repair.any input would be appreciated

Some good independents or dealers may do this repair in house. I did 2 last week. I have done 100's with no problems. The problem is the drive gear does not hold the driveshaft tightly and slips off. What we do is put a small tick in it and press the shaft back in.
