idle control valve hose

Recently been having idle problems with 89 190e 2.6. Checked all hoses and found the hose between the Idle control valve and the engine is totally split right where the hose connects to the ICV. Appears to be the culprit as I can put a piece of tape over the split and it will idle properly. Question: how do you replace this hose? I cannot even visualize where it attaches to the engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did it in my 300E!

Do a search! My engine should be similar to yours. If I remember correctly, I had to remove the the cold start valve/injector to gain access to the portion of the hose that connects to the engine. I used a long needle nose plyers...I think. The old one desintegrated as I pulled it out. The new one went right in. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Replaced both breather hoses. They were in worse condition that I thought. It made a huge difference in the idle and cold start of the engine. I could not get the engine side hose on from the top, as the space was pretty tight. I ended up putting it on from under the car.
