A positive dealer experience

Happy Holidays!

I dropped by Mercedes-Benz of Omaha today to pick up a part and some new fuses (planning to replace all of 'em since my car is approaching the 10-year-old mark.) Just wanted you all to know that sometimes a dealership can be your best ally. I sheared off the rubber bumper which holds my air cleaner down. I dropped by the dealership to get a new one. The computer didn't give a part # for this. The parts man eventually took a picture of my old bumper and faxed it to MB headquarters, where they researched it and eventually sent me the correct part. I know for a fact the local dealer made at least a half-dozen phone calls to try to track down this $8.00 part. A lot of work for not much profit!

I know many of us complain about service at MB dealerships, so just wanted to pass along a success story.

I've had good and bad experiences with the parts dept. at my local MB dealership.

It's all a matter of who's at the parts counter. Some of their people have great customer service skills and some act like they're doing you a favor by being there.

So far I only get parts, and had great experiances with the parts people, they all know me there, I hope the new dealer is going to be like that as well, they just opened it.

My parts person knows my entire family, gave my 4 year old son an MB bear toy once, and she recieved a nice bottle of champagne for XMas this year. I have found little eletrical connectors for my VW's there -- parts VW could not and would not help me with.

Happy , Happy

I've had similar excellent customer service from my dealer in Surrey B.C. When I call it's nice to be on a first name basis (this is good , right?)with the parts person . I've also received free stuff on 3 or 4 occasions , that never happened in over 20 years dealing with Ford. :D

golden rule goes a long way!

whether it's the parts guy, police, or the guy asking "you want fries with that":

i sincerely believe that our attitude goes a LONG way in determing how we are "serviced" in society.

find someone you can deal with, and build the relationship!
