W126 climate control

I've been having an on-going problem.

My climate control will act flakey until the car has been driving for atleast 15 minutes. The blower will not work, therefore no heat or temperature control. After about 15 minutes I can hear a relay clicking (which I traced to the vaccum distribution box), then the climate control will turn on, but it will sometimes flicker on and off.

I resoldered my climate control unit, swapped out the vacuum distribution box with a good unit, and it is still acting up. The wires to the vacuum distribution box go to the driver's upper kick panel, could where these wires are going be my trouble device? Any ideas, I have half my interior ripped apart!

Thanks!

climate control

Have you checked/changed the brushes in the blower motor? I have been told by several on this board that the fan will sometimes blow fine, other times hardly blow. Also, when the brushes get so far worn down, sometimes the fan will quit blowing all together. I am having the same problem as far as the fan blowing sometimes hard and other times not much at all. I have bought some new brushes, but I can't find the blower motor to replace them. Would you happen to know where it would be. I have looked behind the passenger side panel(behind the radio/heater controls) and cannot not find the motor. I did see a black unit that some plugs went into there on the passenger side and wonder if the motor would be inside this unit? Any help would be appreciated.

What model car do you have?

I found my problem. there were some corroded solder connections on a 2nd board in the climate control assy.

climate control

I have an 89 300se. I tore into the side over the weekend and have heard that if you bang the side where the blower motor is and the brushes are worn down, that it will sometimes jar it around where it will blow harder for a while. I did so and it did pick up some. If I could find the blower motor, I have the brushes and I would replace them. I was just wondering if you had ever had to do that?

right side footwell

The fan is very easy to get at in the 126.First remove the lower dash panel(the screws are behind a plastic cover in the change holder). The lower cover(black plastic above the passengers foot)should pull out with it.Now you should be looking at part of the heater box.On the bottom (above passengers foot)you will see a metal can, that is the blower motor. There are 3 or four small bolts holding the assembly in.

BLOWER MOTOR

also, I have thought about the resistor in the motor. Are they hard to change in case it is bad? If you could give me some details on that I would appreciate it greatly.

Just replace the brushes, no need for anything else.
