upper timing chain seal

Anyone have step by step instructions on sealing the infamous upper timing chain cover of my 88 TE? Does the fan and serp. belt have to be removed to do the job?

Also, when replacing the valve cover gasket, do you use the MB sealent or is it installed dry?

Thanks in advance.

EJC
