PLEASE HELP...............'89 420SE rattle

When my 420 is warm, occaisionally there is a rattle when i start up. I think it may be somethin to do with the oil pump but i am not sure. This rattle stops as soon as the oil pressure rises to full. What can i do to get this fixed. I remember at some point having this on my 380 at some point which is why i think it may be a common prob. I cjhanged the timing chain and tensioner cos i thought that was the cause, but it wasn't. I also know it needs an oil change again.

Is it serious or will it not take much to fix it.

Ta....

how long has it been since it had a chain?
sounds like a tensioner/guide rail/chain issue.

the rails aren't bad but, if you are not comfortable with messing with something that than cause serious engine and wallet damage, I'd find me a qualified shop to do the repairs. I would replace the cahin, guides X 4, tensioner and look hard at the cam gears, reseal the oil tubes for the cams at the same time. (cam gear wear is not much of a issue with the double row chains but, will wear if run for long periods with a worn chain)
