Xenon Euro Headlights on a W201?
Recently, I was interested in purchasing new lenses for the Euro headlights I already have on my 16V, but then found myself wondering if I could possibly find new Xenon Euro headlights for the 201 or even a conversion kit. I am aware of the electrical issue (Halogens drawing more electricity than the Xenons) but I was wondering if anyone has tried to convert the headlights on a 201. Or is it not even possible. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go to www.2phast.com
Click on the 190e to the left of the corvette. Then go to Euro lights/HID install. Great info - hope it helps.

Thanks for the info mbdad, I'm not sure I want to spend the money on an HID upgrade, I'm really interested in finding a way to convert the Euros from halogens to xenons. I was actually hoping that someone had either done this conversion before or found someplace that sells the entire Euro headlight in a xenon version. Thanks anyway, that is a very interesting project.

I think these represent a great value for the money. Especially since they come with a $10 rebate for a pair. Typically found in chain auto stores.
Sylvania's Silverstars These have a good write-up for the money. Kind of an appropriate name as well. Haasman

Check out this websight for good info on headlights in general, and Xenon conversions specifically. Many myths debunked.

There are no direct conversions for the W201 and no projector options. If you want HID, then your going to need to convert your reflector headlights to use HID like I did.
The results are incredible and well worth the time/money. As for money, I have about $250 invested in the HID system and $75 for a set of Xenarc HID D2S burners as I did not like the Philips burners that originally came with my HID system. |
