201 Heater core R&R: while I am there .....

... what other parts should I seriously consider replacing.

After all I anticipate having the dash gutted .... and it would be easy to get to other parts.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Haasman

Replace all the vacuum acuators for the climate control and check all the lines and rubber connectors.

Yes, just check them to make sure none are deteriorated. I just went through the same thing in my '87 16V. The lines and connectors were fine in my car. The vacuum acuators looked ok too but I replaced them all anyway.

Another thought on a part to replace is the feedback poteniometer that was mentioned in a previous post. It is the casue of a "clicking" noise in the (W201).

i did a heater core in a couple of 123's. 8 hours on the first. 6 on the second. finished without any extra parts. i was proud.

maintain the ph in the coolant to make the new core last.

be extremley cafeful with the dash so it does not crack.

Thanks for the tips. The dash is already cracked .... thinking about a dash overlay.

I will replace the vacuum flap controls, vacuum connector tubes and also search out the potentiometer .... any other tips from you experienced pros?

Haasman

Does r & r of the heater blower motor require dash disassembly? If so...

There you go .... good question!

These are the things I am trying to harvest prior to the "disemboweling" of the cars interior.

Any one?
