Dumb Question!!!!!

Sorry guys, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for in "Search"

I gotta suspicion that my MBTEX seats were treated, painted or both before I bought the car. Don't get me wrong because the passenger seat looks excellent. The Drivers seat is showing wear at the butt rub joint on the left side.

I went to Leatherique and asked for help but nothing yet.

What is a good cleaner to take these seats down to basic and then bring them back (Palomino)

Leatherique site seems geared to leather (DUH) MBTEX being Vinyl I can't seem to get a handle on a dye if one is available.

Anybody have experience in this area?

As I recall, Leatherique's site does refer to their cleaners as being suitable for vinyl/Tex also. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether the dye can work on Tex; a phone call or Email should be able to get you the info.

No dumb questions just......

Tom,

I don't think there is such a thing as a dumb question. Questions are for people seeking answers; the only dumb question is the un-asked one! We ask questions not because we are dumb or ignorant, but because we seek knowledge. There are however dumb answers.....

To prevent myself from falling into the later catagory, I don't know what you should do. It does sound as though the 'dumb' part came from the previous owner!

Did the previous owner recover/replace the seats? Because your 560SL should have leather seats.

Is 274 one of the numbers stamped on the left side of your radiator plate? That's the code for Leather Palomino interior.

There are no dumb questions--but I've occasionally given dumb answers. I distinctly recall knowing that 560's had leather as standard...
