124 door closing problems
It sounds silly, I know. But for the life of me I can not fiqure out why it is beginning to take several hard slams to close my 124's driver's door.
The door jams seem tight, nothing is loose or worn, the seat belt is not in the way.... what can it be? Thanks for any thoughts.

Take a can of spray silicone and lube the seals. WAxing the door jamb helps too. This time of year old rubber gets kinda stiff and needs a little extra "lube" to get moving. If nothing else this is a good, simple starting point.

I have found that the striker plates, if even just a tiny bit out of line, can make it difficult to close them doors. That, combined with the stiff seals, would probably be it.

Funny how everyone gets the same type of problems at the same time!
My W124 driver's side door is doing the same thing!

Possibly the latch mechanism is sticking in the 'unlatched' position. Happens a lot, particularly in icy regions like mine. With door open, use WD40 to clean mechanism, and get it to latch and unlatch freely using screwdriver to poke at it. Wait a few minutes for the bulk of the WD to evaporate or runoff, then spray mechanism with lithium grease.
My hood latch froze open last night... Best of luck.
