Hi there everybody,
I am going to change the diff. fluid to synthetic Mobil 1.
The previous mechanic torqued the fill plug to about 130 ftlbs.
By the time I had it loosened , the fluid was cold and I will drive it after lunch. Should I replace that (alu ?) plug or will it be ok with some blue loctite on the threads and torqued to now only 37 ftlbs?

I would replace it if i were you. It should not cost that much. Why take a chance and have any leaks especially if it's been torqued that much and will use same plug with much less torque... usually not a good idea.

Hi Joseph H,
when I unscrewed the plug, I noticed that the plug is actually steel, but an aluminum washer is used. Only breaking it loose gave me the impression it was all alu. So the washer is replaced and after a short trip no leaks.
Not so easy to get that fluid in there. Was able to pour about 1/2 quart out of the bottle, then used one of those plastic syringes that hold about 50 cc's....
