Help identifying m102 engine
Hi Everyone,
My sister recently purchased an 86 190e with 77,000 miles from my aunt. It possibly had an engine replacement so I am not sure if the timing is adjustable or not. From other posts it seems that 84-86 model 2.3L engines can be adjustted by turning the distributor. I have the engine manual, but it looks different than the engine in the car. The engine in the car now has a single serpentine belt. The engine number is 102985-12-027203. If it is adjustable, where do you aim the timing light...I can't find a line of sight to any marks. Thanks, Nolan |

The timing is adjustable on that engine, however to see the pointer you must move some wires.
The pointer is part of the waterpump & the timing mark is on the crank damper.
