Wood Stain for my Ole' Tank

I'd like to restain the wood console in the old gray tank... my '89 560sl. It's the pearl black metalic with the gray leather interior.

I restained the wood in my wife's '88 300e, but we've sold it so I can't really remember what color the wood is/was.

What's a good replacement stain for the 560sl? What color should I use? Is it the same as the 300e?? I used the two part epoxy for the 300e and loved the results.

Please let me know. I'm itching for a weekend project.
