Hengst Filter Question

I've never used Hengst oil filters, and I got one of those sort-of a dumb question. If I recall correctly the oil filters I've previously used, their outer wrapping joint has been stitched together. Has the Hengst outer wrapping joint always been glued together, or is this a new way of connecting the joint? Just curious/concerned about that glued joint!
Thanks, enjoy your drive, timreid

Hengst is an OE supplier to MB & in "most" cases they are OE quality. What filter application?

Hi M.B. DOC

I'm going to use their oil filter (E153H D25) for my 92 400E. I'm just curious about the application of the glued joint, and was wondering if it's a new method of joining the ends?

Thanks, enjoy your drive, timreid

I've been using Hengst filters for 3+ years, changing oil at 5000 miles, and never had a problem. The ones I've used have always been glued.

They go well with Mobil 1 ...

That is an OE filter & yes many of the oil filters have been modified for the FSS cars starting in 1998.
Had a lot of oil filters fall apart when you leave them in for 10k+miles.

The old oil/filter change commercial would apply to FSS cars, pay me now ($) or pay me later $$$$.
Concerning the application of glue used in oil filters, this reminds me of what I read several years ago, that during the Vietnam War (a Super Glue) was used as the adhesive to close wounds, and saved many lives.
enjoy your drive, timreid
