Shop tells me my turbo needs to be replaced. Car has 116k on clock. It is leaking oil on the output side. The drain pipe is not leaking. Is there any other possible cure short of replacement with a new or rebuilt one?

Does anyone remanufacture these turbos, new ones are very expensive? Where can I get the best price on a new or rebuilt one?

email me private is fine.

Thanks for your input!

I don't know if PartsShop has turbos, but you might want to give Performance Products (formerly IMPCO) a call. 1-800-243-1220. I am pretty sure they would have a rebuilt turbo for your car. They're usually around $800-$900.

Check the back of Sport Compact Car magazine or especially "Turbo Imports" magazine (something like that, I forget the exact name). There are two places that are really well know, one is Turbocity (turbocity.com), and the other is Turbonetics - and there are many more I am sure. I think turbonetics advertises a rebuild with a 24 hour turnaround time. Price might be around $400. Give them a call, because I know they work with a brands of turbos.

Get this done soon!! The engine can blow up as a result of this if the oil leak becomes enough to diesel the engine with no fuel. The engine will over run and sieze. Bad day.
