Question E/S Switch on 190e Tranny. Is Mr Haynes wrong?

I'm confused.

The Haynes manual says :

In E (Economy), the vehicle will move away from standstill in 2nd gear with light throttle or 1st gear with full throttle. In S (Standard), the vehicle will always move away from standstill in 2nd gear and gearchange points will occur at lower driving speeds...

Is this explanation flawed?

I thought that in S (Sport), the car can start from 1st gear at full throttle and the gearchange points occur at higher rpm; and that the reverse is true for E (Economy) plus the car can only start from 2nd gear?

What's up with the Haynes expalanation???

manual

i would tend to put more stock in the MB manual.

that said, the MB manuals are not always PERFECTLY clear to me. i think its a G>E translation thing. i find this especially true with many electronic product manuals that i assume were origionally written in japanese and later translated to many languages.

imagine all the puzzled faces trying to understand "thing-a-ma-jig" after a transmografacation to their native tongue!
