Strange Noise 2003 SLK32 AMG

After I have driven the car on the highway for a few miles and I get off and stop at the first light, I hear this very strange high pitched noise. If I have the headlights on, they will dim, and the dash lights dim. Does anyone know what this is? It only happens when I have my foot on the brake. If I let me foot off of the brakes, the noise stops but will again start at the next light when I am stopped with my foot on the brakes. It sounds like some kind of auxilary motor or something along those lines. Whatever it is, it must be drawling a lot of power as the lights to dim. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks everyone!
