Did my own brakes today!

Many of you may think this not significant, but today I did a full rear brake job (discs and pads) on my 1995 S320 (W140).

There is no way that I would have even considered doing this myself, much less done it successfully without the help of everyone in this forum (and the D.I.Y. pages).

Not only did I save a decent chunk of money, but I now have a lot more confidence and understanding about my car.

Thank you very much to everyone in this forum !!!

This is great! It is a very good feeling. Have you done anything like this before?

I am always calling my kids out and have them hold something, look or help.

Whether one decides to repair it or not is one thing, but to have an understanding about how it works and how it should be, I think is very important.

I enjoy working on the cars (usually!). Sometimes I actually feel relaxed after some work. There is a great sense of satisfaction in figuring it out and then going about the repair.

Keep going!

Haasman

Nope, never done anything like this before.

This is my first Benz and I've had it for about a year.

Front brakes probably next summer/fall...

You da' man...think of the coin you saved too by not bringing it somewhere (i.e. - stealership)

The help one finds here is invaluable. My confidence in MB mechanics has gone up exponentially with all the resources found here at the 'shop'. We are truly fortunate to have this place at our disposal....I feel.

It's absolutely significant! Good job! I've been doing work on my cars for 30 years and every time I finish, I'm damn proud of my accomplishment. Saves money and gives you a measure of independence.

Congrats!! Makes one feel good to accomplish a job that is not really in their area of expertise. I recently went as far as replacing my valve stem seals and held my breath when I started it up as I waited to see the smoke come out of exhaust. When there was none my neighbors heard me yell with satisfaction. Like you thanks to this forum. Good job.
