M104.992 EGR valve replacement

I have a 95 E320 with 124Kmiles. Fault code says EGR. I already have a new EGR in stock. What additional parts do I need to have on-hand to do the repair.

FYI the 104.992 engine installation mounts the EGR in-line between two compression fittings.

I have already rodded out the small SS tube used for the vacuum line.

Thanks for the input.

Hi Tom,
We too have a 95 320, I suspect I may have to work on this EGR assembly shortly, did you find it particularly difficult to detach the vacuum tube from the valve, it sure looks pretty rusty to me.

Thanks
Mike

You might ask Phil on this site to see if any other items are required to complete the replacement, I'd be curious myself.

I have yet to have an EGR problem that was the valve on a 104 motor (plenty elsewhere). All the problems I have had have been where the hot stainless EGR tube enters the aluminum manifold. This point is low on the manifold and oily intake PCV vapors coat and cake out on the hot inlet from the EGR.

Steve is correct. I just cleaned the egr system on my engine. The only crud I could dig out is where the long tube that snakes behind the engine meets the intake manifold. It's at that last bit of tube that deposits seem to collect.

If you rodded that tube out, you should be okay. Do you still have the code after cleaning the tube?

There is an updated tube to cure this. Do a search, you'll find plenty of info.
HTH,

Just as advertised, the EGR tube was plugged just where it enters the intake mainifold. Cleaned out the tube and fault code reset. Thanks.
