1- check the fuses
2- will the window go down anymore?
3- turn the key on and go to that door and try the window button on the door
4- It could be the central window switch on the center console.

Remove the offending switch and open it up. Often they collect a lot of dirt and @#%.

It is best, if the switch needs to be cleaned, to do it over a towel to keep the tiny little ball bearings from rolling away. Spray some WD40 in it.

5- Do you hear the motor trying to run when you depress a switch? If so your window regulator needs repair.

Keep us posted?

rear window problem

haasman:

1.- fuses seem to be intact
2.- the window will continue to go down, at the center console or switch at the window.
3.- tried the switch at the window, will go down further but not up
4.- see response #2

I know I have a different model car (85 wagon) but it I had the same problem.

As it turned out I had broken wires. Two of the wires that led from the center console to the motor/switch in the door were cracked/broken in half from years of opening and closing the door. They were broken right at the hing where they enter the door. I ended up cutting out about a foot of old wire and reconnecting it with in-line splices and new wire.

If you have a wiring diagram and a continuity tester check the continuity of the wires between the switch in the door and the console. Your problem sounds exaclty like mine.

Alec.

I had the exact same problem in the same door on my 85 380SE. Alec was right. Had to splice new wire from inside right pillar to window motor. Window works again.
