Help! 3rd try at transmission rebuild.

I just moved to Las Vegas from Atlanta. My classic '84 500SEL Euro made it with no problems (as usual). After a week or so the transmission began to slip some, so I resolved that 203,000 was right for a rebuild. I found a reputable transmission place to do the work. They welcomed the opportunity, but after they finished I got about 3 or 4 days of driving and it blew (oil pump they say). They honored their work and rebuilt it for the second time.

This time I had it for 3 or 4 days and it went again. I'm sure these guys are doing the best they can, but they say now they suspect the torque converter and this transmission has many different versions of converters. Any suggestions on what they might be missing, if anything? Does it matter to them that this is a euro? Please advise if you have any comments. I need my trusty car, and I don't want it to go back to them for a 4th rebuild. All experts welcome. Thanks.
