ASR/BAS problem on CLK

Hi All,
I have a UK spec CLK230k 1998 Year and have problem with warning light coming on for ASR/BAS (located together on warning indicator and not triangle).
This comes on after starting the engine and left hand brake light stays on continusly and cruse control does not work. Are these related problems?
Car drives fine with no loss in acceleration just slight more pressure required when braking. Is there possibly problems with components of brake assist?
Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like a bad brake light switch, or possibly a short circuit. Unplug the switch and see if the brake light goes off. If it does, replace the switch.

Thank you for your reply,

Now that the snow has cleared I had chance to check it out. Removed leads to brake light switch. Brake light remains on as before. It comes on when lights are switched on.
Since ASR/BAS light stays on after engine starts possible problem with relay or sensor?

If one of the brake lights is on even though the brake pedal is not depressed you need to find out why. Pursue that problem and I'll bet that the ASR and cruise control problems will be solved as well.

ILUVMILS,

Thanks for the advice. You were spot on.

Brake switch was faulty and one blown brake light bulb. ASR, BAS, and cruise control all working now.
Faulty brake light switch was causing brake light to stay on. The switch was stuck half way ans would not spring out fully.

Thank you for the advice.
