steering wheel noise
 

When I turn my wheel on my 90 300E I hear a scraping noise which appears to come from the other side of my steering column. Any ideas???????????

Not sure, but my old 1982 BMW 733i 3.3L I-6 4dr sedan also did this when the temperature was below 40 degrees. Very irritating. :rolleyes:

ITS THE CONTACT RINGS FOR THE AIR BAG. YOU MAY SEE YOUR AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. YOU CAN LUBE THEM, OR REPLACE THEM. I HAD TO REPLACE MINE BECAUSE THE SCRAPING SOUND CAME BACK AFTER THEY WERE LUBRICATED.
