300SE Hard Starting When Cold out

Hi all,
I have a 1990 300SE with 185,000 on it and when it is about 15F and lower it will not start unless I put in 2 bottles of dry gas every time. What would cause this, I use different brands of gas and still not luck. Could it be a bad fuel filter? It has about 15,000 miles on it.
Thanks,
Dan

joe p - pro mechanic had some interesting things to say in this post. He provides advise on a different model, but same fuel injection system as yours - Bosch CIS.

Personally, I don't think it's your fuel filter. If it's plugged, it's plugged and dry gas wouldn't unplug it. The maint. manual calls for changing every 60,000 miles. I do mine once a year irregardless of mileage.

There are dozens of probable causes for a no start condition.
What was given in the previous tread are all probable causes but dont't forget"
a)The ignition system
b)Fuel system, including the cold start injector
The weather has been brutally cold here over the last 2 weeks with temperature down to minus 36deg. My old faithfull Benz with 246K on the clock never failed to start. I only have to present him my remote starter and it start right up with less than a full turn on the starter.

Thanks for the input guys, I might bring it to a MB shop for them to look at.

Jackd, thanks for giving us all your cold air up there. It was 1 deg last night!
