16V cams compatibility
Forum members,
Having reviewed the specs for the different 102 16V engines, I found the 2.5 Evo II cams being the best with 220 degrees of duration compared to the std. 199 deg on the std 2.3's. Question is will the Evo cams fit into the head of a 2.3-16 without any mods. Someoen is generous enough to get hold of the Evo II or 1 cams from germany for me if they do match up. Has anyone tried this for an upgrading option on their 2.3-16V's tq. alex |

The Evo cams will not work in a regular 16V unless you get the pistons notched & use the "double" valve springs, retainers & base.
The "32" camshaft that came in the M102.990 2.5 16V engine will fit but also should be used with double valve springs.
