Drivers side headrest

My drivers side headrest won't go up when I push the button on the door. I hear the motor humming in there but I get nothing. I can manually lift it up and it just drops back down. So I'm assuming it's fallen off track ?? Maybe? How do I access is to find out? Thanks.

To get inside the seat you have to remove the seat back to get to it. On the back side of the seat at the bottom, there should be some screws that hold the seat back on. Take those out and pull gently from the bottom, being careful to see how it is coming apart. The back should be wide open for you to see how it works, its a simple system.

Jason, the seatback and sides interlock together along the seams. After you remove the screws at the bottom, wiggle the panel about, it will be soon clear how the panel joins with the sides of the seat, its kinda like a zipper without the teeth.

I did this repair just two weeks ago, I found the gadget that runs the headrest up and down the seat has broken into pieces, its just made of hard nylon. There is a little gear in it that is turned by a little shaft running from the motor, which is tucked down low near the seat pivot. It's a cheap part (the hearest gear part), if you open up the back and look in, it will be apparent what is wrong.

Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it. Sounds easy enough, I'll update you tomorrow or the next day when I open it up.
