W140 Instrument cluster
Can anyone give me some hints on how to remove the instrument cluster without damaging it or using special tools?
I need to replace the fuel gage light blub and the outside temperature light. Many thanks in advance Michael Tse Melbourne |

Two way I have found: 1) Get some heavy wire and bend a crook in the end. Make two of them and insert them on each side at the top, turn where the hook will catch and pull. The instrument cluster just pops in and out. 2) On the far left side of the dash there is a cover you can pry up and access a screw that holds (I think) the speaker. Remove this and you can put your hand through and push the cluster out. Once out repalce all the bulbs and be done with it for a while. First time I replaced only the bad one and had to do the job again in a couple of weeks when another went out.
