Does anyone know if the Transmission dipstick sold for the E-320 (W210) through various websites can be used by itself, requires other specialized equipment ???
I have a 1999 E-320 and would like to be able to check the Transmission fluid level. There are no leaks and the Transmission works fine as far as I can tell, but it bothers me that I can't check the darn level in there.... Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance ![]() |

The 722.6 auto trans dipstick requires that you know the temp of the fluid(approx), & that is the only requirement.

I found (through experimentation) that with the engine cold the trans fluid level is in the 25 Deg. C range. With the engine warm (30 minutes of driving) the trans level is in the 80 Deg. C range.
You will also need a new plastic key tab to lock the dipstick cover in place (the old one must be broken to remove it).

Thanks a lot guys... That is exactly what I needed to know before getting one. I was also aware of the fact that I will be needing the lock-cap for the small port hole; thanks for reminding me.
